How to prepare a typical fork breakfast properly

It’s a deeply rooted tradition in many Catalan villages, and luckily, in Montroig we still enjoy it the way we’ve always done: leisurely, with traditional dishes, and sharing time with friends, family, or neighbors. Unlike the quick and light breakfast many of us have during the week, a fork breakfast is a complete, hot, and tasty meal, typically enjoyed on weekends or special days. And while every bar and home has its own traditions, there are some essential elements if you want to prepare one properly.

Main dishes with character

The essence of a smorgasbord breakfast is the main course. This is where variety and tradition reign: fried eggs with bacon or sausage, potato omelet, meatballs with sauce, pig’s trotters… These are powerful dishes, with intense flavor, designed to fill the stomach and replenish energy. No Catalan breakfast is complete without a good tomato bread.
